Why is there a martian in Woking? That's because the author of "The War of the Worlds" was living in Woking when he wrote the story. The book is about an invasion of the Earth by evil martians! The writer's name was H.G. Wells.	Pourquoi y a-t-il un martien a Woking? C'est parce que l'Auteur de "La Guerre Des Mondes" vivaient à Woking au moment il écrivait l'histoire de ces très méchants martiens qui envahissent la terre! Cet écrivain s'appelait H.G. Wells.
Can you see the bird? The bird in question is in the top of the picture. It's a peacok, of course! And the shopping mall is named after it!	Que veut dire 'peacock' en anglais? 'Peacock' veut dire 'Paon'. On peut voir un paon dans le haut de la photo. Le 'Peacocks centre' est donc le centre commercial des paons!
Do trains have steering wheels? No they don't! That's because they don't need one! They just have to follow the tracks!	Y'-a-il un volant dans les trains? Non. C'est parce qu'ils n'en ont pas besoin! Ils leur suffit de suivre la voie ferrée!
Do you know who invented Football? And who won the last world cup? The CE1/CP kids from Glaine-Montaigut surely know that the game of Football was known as far back as Antiquity. The greeks used to call it 'Harpaston'. But the Football as we know it today emerged in 12th century England. Later, in the 19th century, the universities of Eton, Harrow and Rugby established the rules we are still using today. Only one naughty student of Rugby decided one day he wanted to be able to carry the ball in his hands. Another new game was born! The American football is different to our game. They call ours 'soccer'. The French won the last world cup in 1998. Sadly, there was no player from Glaine in the French national team...	Est-ce que tu sais qui a inventé le Foot? Et qui a gagné la dernière coupe du monde? Comme le savent certainement les CP et CE1 de Glaine-Montaigut, on connaissait déjà le football dans l'antiquité. Les grecs l'appelaient 'Harpaston'. Mais le football comme on le joue aujourd'hui a vu le jour dans l'Angleterre du 12ème siècle. A part pour un étudiant un peu farceur de Rugby qui un jour a décidé de prendre la balle dans les mains. Un nouveau jeu était né! Le football américain est différent du notre, ils appellent le notre 'soccer'. (Ca se prononce: soka`.) Les français ont gagné la dernière coupe du monde de football. Mais cela aurait été encore mieux s'il y avait eu des joueurs de Glaine-Montaigut dans l'équipe! 'Football' est un mot anglais qui veut dire 'balle qui se joue au pied'. Cela se prononce 'foute-baul'.
What's the difference between a town and a village? A town is much bigger than a village. There are 90,300 inhabitants in Woking. That's really a lot of people! In contrast, there are 400 hundred people in Glaine-Montaigut.	Quelle la différence entre une ville et un village? Une ville est bien plus grande qu'un village! Il y a 90 300 habitants à Woking. C'est vraiment beaucoup de gens! A l'opposé, il y a 400 habitants à Glaine-Montaigut.
